Transactional Emails – Extended SMTP

Transactional emails are emails based on actions.

The actions must often be conditioned by an interaction of the recipient.

In other words, the recipient has just taken an action.

The action can be to buy something in a webshop, to receive an invoice from a finance system, to have done an action in some own developed software – or something entirely fourth that triggers the need to send the person an email.

At MarketingPlatform, we have a dedicated solution for these emails.

A standard solution that provides a guaranteed delivery of your company’s important emails.

What types of emails are sent as transactional emails

All emails, that are not part of mass sending, are allowed to be in a group that we call sendings of transactional emails. The area includes special certifications which tell the received mail servers that emails sent from it should be treated as a handwritten message.

As you can read, we also greatly protect the delivery security of these emails. In fact, we never heard from a customer that these emails have ended elsewhere than in the recipient’s inbox, and it is important for your invoices, order confirmations and similar transaction documents.

How the function works

Transactional emails can be sent with the MarketingPlatform system, or directly from your company’s own system, as described earlier in this article. It is easy to deliver emails to MarketingPlatform from your own systems. That is done by replacing the outgoing mail server with our SMTP. Typically, an operation takes 5-10 minutes for the customer.

MarketingPlatform can also receive the information to the transactional email through our API and automatically merge the information with a graphic template, just to mention some of the many possibilities. There are also several, though slightly more limited options with SMTP, for adding graphic elements and styling through HTML. Our technical team handles all the technical. Your company should just tell us what you want, so we or one of our talented partners can help with it.

Reporting

It is of course possible to see how the sent emails have performed. The statistics can tell about opening rates, click rates and which addresses are not valid. The non-valid addresses are also called bounces in email marketing terms. One distinguishes between soft bounce and hard bounce. The soft bounce is, for example, an e-mail address that is full, does not respond or similar expected temporary issues. A hard bounce is an invalid address where the domain has either ended or the address before @ is deleted.

The reporting can be downloaded from the system and used in internal tools, for example, an intranet for knowledge sharing and internal reporting. Invalid addresses can also be retrieved and therefore used to update internal customer records. Companies that send to other companies (B2B) will often contact the invalid addresses, in order to update the contact and thereby secure the trade.
